Whispers in the Dormitory

The air in the dormitory was thick with tension as the clock ticked towards midnight. The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow through the windows. The students of room 312 were a mixture of nerves and boredom, their eyes flickering to the clock every few seconds.

"Ten more minutes," Alex groaned, rubbing his temples. "Why do we have to stay up for this stupid fire drill?"

"Because they want to keep us safe," responded Lily with a yawn. "Or at least, that's what they tell us."

The dormitory was a maze of echoes, and as the minutes dragged on, the walls seemed to close in. Alex's mind wandered to the legend whispered among the students about the dormitory's dark past. He had heard the whispers, faint at first, but they had grown louder in recent weeks.

Whispers in the Dormitory

"It's just the wind," Lily dismissed, trying to keep her voice steady.

Alex, however, couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. The whispers seemed to come from all directions, but there was no one else in the room. He had checked under the beds, behind the doors, even in the wardrobe. But the whispers grew louder, insistent, as if trying to convey a message.

"Alex, did you hear that?" Lily's voice was barely above a whisper.

He nodded, his heart pounding. "It sounds like... voices. They're talking about something."

"What? You're going crazy."

Alex ignored her and leaned closer to the whispering. The voices were hazy, but they seemed to be calling his name. "Alex... Alex..."

He felt a shiver run down his spine. "They're calling me."

"Stop it," Lily snapped, pushing him away. "You're scaring me."

Alex's eyes widened as the whispers intensified. "They're not just talking to me, Lily. They're here."

Lily's face turned pale, and she grabbed his arm. "Let's go check. It's probably nothing."

They moved cautiously through the dormitory, their footsteps echoing in the silence. The whispers grew louder, more insistent. They reached the room next door, and Alex could feel the presence pressing against the door.

"Open up!" The voice was male, deep, and full of malice.

Alex and Lily exchanged a terrified glance before turning the handle and pushing the door open. The room was empty, but the whispering was coming from the shadows.

"Over here!" The voice echoed, growing louder.

They moved deeper into the room, their eyes searching the darkness. Alex felt the presence close in, a chilling wind that seemed to whisper his name once more.

"Alex," the voice said, this time more distinctly. "I know where you are."

Lily grabbed Alex's arm and yanked him backwards. "We need to get out of here!"

But it was too late. The shadows coalesced into a figure, tall and gaunt, its eyes hollow and glowing red. The whispers were a cacophony of voices now, all calling out Alex's name.

"Alex! Alex! Alex!"

Lily screamed as the figure reached out, its hand passing through Alex like a ghost. The whispers grew louder, filling the room with an overwhelming sense of dread.

"Alex, you can't run from me. You belong to me."

Alex's heart was pounding in his chest as he stumbled backwards, his vision blurring with fear. He felt a hand on his shoulder, and turned to see Lily, her face twisted in terror.

"Help me," she gasped.

But it was too late. The whispers engulfed them both, pulling them into the darkness. They could feel the shadows seeping into their bodies, suffocating them, taking control.

The whispers continued, louder, more insistent, until they were nothing more than a chorus of voices in the void. And in that void, Alex and Lily were lost forever.

The next morning, the dormitory was in shock. The students of room 312 had vanished without a trace. The whispers were gone, replaced by an eerie silence that seemed to echo through the empty room. But the whispers had won. Alex and Lily were now part of the dormitory's dark legend, their voices added to the chorus of the unseen, never to be heard again.
